Welcome to Living Single in Retirement

I want you to know that you are part of a very large group of awesome women.

According to Social Security, as of 2017, over half of the 67 million retired people are women. That’s 36+ million women are retired and that number is growing daily. Source

The focus here is to;

  1. Share information about what single women face in retirement.
  2. Introduce you to opportunities that may enhance your solo life as you age.
  3. Give you steps you can take to create a better retirement lifestyle.

Here are the main topics of the blog:

AGING        Aging happens to everyone daily. Don’t arrive at old age without a plan to meet your needs. Get prepared now for the changes you may face later. I’ll show you how.

HOUSING        Paying for the basics after your working life can take most of your retirement income. Often these expenses are for housing, utilities and food. Our housing section will talk about ways you can minimize these costs and have more money to do the things you love. There is a trend towards Shared Housing as another way for women to live together (like the golden girls) to reduce costs, increase safety and enhance social life.

LIFESTYLE    Have you thought about how you want to live in retirement? This is a big subject and covers such things as; Location, Style, Attitude, Possessions, Hobbies, Cultural Interests, Dress, Friends, Family. Some single seniors are becoming nomads and living out of RV’s and Vans. We’ll share many different retirement lifestyles that might peak your interest.

MONEY    Many single senior women are looking for ways to make extra money to supplement their retirement income. Some are interested in learning how to start an online business. These subjects and many more are covered in this section. Disclaimer: we are not financial specialists and do not offer any financial advice. What we share is for informational purposes only. You will need to contact the experts that can give you advice on this subject.

TRAVEL    It’s time to get out and see the world. If you like to travel and have fun in your retirement but may be scared to go alone, you’ll find some great tips here about ways to connect with other solo ladies who like the same things and how you can be safe on your solo adventures. We have plans to add a senior women’s travel club, so stay tuned for that.
